Michele Wachter, Community Liason
My name is Michele Wachter , mother of three daughters, Jillian, Kimberlyanna and Elizabeth. I have worked for Home Instead Senior Care for 13 years. My career started as a companion and has grown into a life long career path and continues to grow everyday.
When I was a small child I always had great admiration and enjoyed being surrounded by the seniors from my home town, Ridgewood Queens NY.
I answered an add in 2003 from my local town paper to become a companion for Home Instead Senior Care. I realized that serving the Geriatric population was my true calling in life. I returned back to college in 2005 . I graduated in 2008 with a degree in Interdisciplinary studies , with a high concentration in Gerontology and Therapeutic studies to help those diagnosed with Alzheimer 's / Dementia. Today I am a Certified Alzheimer's/ Dementia Trainer and an advocate for families, Referral Providers , clients and other companions. My expertise at Home Instead include: Quality Assurance Advocate, Outreach Coordinator, Home Care Specialist, Certified Alzheimer / Dementia Trainer for families and all companions seeking employment opportunities with Home Instead Senior Care Nassau County NY. I am also the founder of Seniors helping Soldiers; an outreach program I designed for individuals with Cognitive Impairments. This program is a recreational program for seniors who are interested in giving back to our Veterans ,their families and our troops over seas. In 2014 I received an award for Outstanding Recreational Therapeutic Services from Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation. In addition I am the coordinator of monthly support groups for client's families with Cognitive Impairments. I am truly blessed to work in a field that is so rewarding , and I love with all my heart.
